Rehms Druck achieves Germany’s first inkjet UV QSD Certification with Konica Minolta

| 6 augusti 2018

Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1 cut-sheet UV inkjet press userRehms Druck has become the first printing service provider in Germany to achieve the QSD (DIN ISO 12647-8) certification in inkjet UV digital printing.

This latest quality standard recognition is in addition to the DIN ISO 12647-2 Standard Offset Printing Process certifications which have been achieved repeatedly by the Borken, Westphalia operation since 2006.

The certification adhered to the current printing standard of Fogra51 (PSOCoated_v3.icc) and Fogra52 (PSOuncoated_v3.icc) and included proof prints for consistency and validation. Also checked were color management data according to PDF / X specifications, consulting and media competence and personalization / variable data printing.

Rehms Druck, a loyal Konica Minolta customer for many years, decided to invest in AccurioJet KM-1 cut-sheet UV inkjet technology at drupa 216. Employing 110 staff and with a turnover of €18.5million, Rehms Druck wanted a production system to enable it to grow into new markets using one digital inkjet technology in a team partnership approach using world-class expertise.

Before making the decision to invest, a range of applications were tested and ROI on the move to UV inkjet was reviewed. Print quality had to match Rehms Druck’s high standards and those demanded by customers, and the break-even point had to be low enough to move jobs from offset printing to the Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1. Also a key factor was the ability to reduce the lead time customers waited for work to be printed and shipped.

Rehms Druck also wanted to grow business opportunities in new markets with the ability to print on a wide range of new media, including plastics, to allow the company to innovate its print offering to existing and new clients.
