Konica Minolta Environmental Management System once again receives ISO 14001:2015 certification

| 11 december 2020

Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe announces that its Environment Management System (EMS) has once again been awarded ISO 14001:2015 certification by TÜV Rheinland. EMS was first granted this certification in 2017.

With its Environmental Management System (EMS), Konica Minolta is committed to reducing its environmental impact, complying with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) legislation and considering essential stakeholder requirements. EMS integrates procedures and processes for training personnel as well as monitoring, summarising, and reporting specialised environmental performance information for internal and external Konica Minolta stakeholders. It was established in June 2017 and recently been recertified in accordance with the international standard ISO 14001:2015. ISO 14001:2015 specifies the requirements for an environmental management system that an organisation can use to enhance its environmental performance. It helps organisations to minimise their negative impact on the environment and to comply with applicable laws, regulations and other environmental requirements. Other European subsidiaries that have received ISO14001:2015 certification include Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and the UK.

The certification confirms Konica Minolta's high level of commitment to achieving its environmental and sustainability goals and is regarded as an ideal instrument for supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 17 SDGs were developed by the United Nations in a bid to create a comprehensive worldwide strategy for overcoming key global environment and social challenges. Konica Minolta Europe focuses on six SDGs in particular: "Climate Action", ''Responsible Consumption and Production'', ''Quality Education'', ''Gender Equality'', ''Decent Work and Economic Growth'' and ''Partnerships for the Goals''. Konica Minolta defined climate action as one of the most important SDGs: For this reason, the company has developed a strategy for avoiding and reducing energy consumption, substituting CO2 emitting power sources with green energy and compensating for unavoidable CO2 emissions.

As part of this strategy, Konica Minolta has partnered with ClimatePartner, which supports the company in calculating, reducing and offsetting carbon emissions. So far, climate neutrality has been achieved at the Konica Minolta Europe headquarters and at its subsidiary in the Netherlands. Konica Minolta also offers its customers services that help reduce their CO2 emissions. Together with its customers, Konica Minolta Europe has compensated more than 30,000 tons of unavoidable CO2 emissions over the course of five years. The entire process is verifiable with the "climate neutral" label and Konica Minolta's certificate confirming its support of Gold Standard-certified projects. Konica Minolta's balance is analysed and updated annually, enabling measures for continued avoidance and reduction of carbon emissions to be implemented and monitored. All ClimatePartner projects are certified according to the highest international standards, and independent third-parties check that local measures are implemented.

Besides, Konica Minolta received recently two distinguished CSR recognitions. The company has been given the highest evaluation and awarded a global leadership position on the Climate A List by CDP, an international not-for-profit organisation engaged in activities to realise a sustainable economy, for the fifth time. Additionally, Konica Minolta, has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), one of the most prestigious global indices of Environment Social Governance (ESG) investment, for the ninth consecutive year.
