Book printer Laballery adds creative touch with MGI JETvarnish print embellishment system

French book printer Laballery has become the latest printing business to buy the MGI JETvarnish 3DS print embellishment system through Konica Minolta.

The once family-run company, based in Clamecy, to the south of Auxerre, is one of France’s leading monochrome book producers, with an array of offset and digital printing capabilities. It placed the order for the JETvarnish at the C’Print exhibition, an event where Konica Minolta showed for the first time in France its AccurioPress C83hc digital press, with the unique High Chroma toner for photo quality printing with high color saturation and sharper color reproduction.

The JETvarnish 3DS is manufactured by Konica Minolta’s strategic partner MGI Digital Technology. The system applies a spot UV coating as a top layer to offset, toner and inkjet prints, making them more vivid, tactile and exclusive. These special effects add an extra creative touch to a wide range of applications, including book covers, luxury packaging, greeting cards, brochures and flyers. Using the JETvarnish with an inline hot foiling module makes even more eye-catching effects possible.

As well as the sale of the MGI JETvarnish 3DS to Laballery at C’Print, Konica Minolta also sealed two further deals at the exhibition, with L’imprimerie Rochat buying an AccurioPress C3080 digital color press, and MG Imprimerie extending its Konica Minolta fleet with a new AccurioPress C3070 press. This system will be equipped with the Integrated Colour Control unit, IQ-501, which maximises production time through features such as automatic front-to-back registration and automatic creation of printer profiles.
